For your viewing pleasure: films about accountants!
As we enter our fourth week of lockdown, you might be struggling for entertainment. Luckily for you we have compiled a definitive list of the best films about accountants for your viewing pleasure!
1. The Shawshank Redemption
Undoubtedly the greatest film ever to feature an accountant in a lead role, The Shawshank Redemption is a sweeping, dramatic tour-de-force which everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime. And given that we’re all in lockdown, we’re in the perfect state of mind to empathise with a prison drama…
2. The Producers
If you’re more into comedy films then this musical-about-a-musical-about-Hitler is (surprisingly) a hoot. The accountant in this story hatches a plan to defraud investors by putting on a sure-fire flop, only to have it spectacularly backfire on him when the musical is unexpectedly successful. (He definitely need not apply for a job at E R Grove)
3. The Accountant
Probably the only film that will ever be made with the word accountant in the title, Ben Affleck stars in this action adventure about an accountant with some seriously dodgy clients, and a penchant for sniper rifles. Boring he is not! (While none of our accountants are part of the criminal fraternity, we reckon Jon fancies his chances at being a crack shot…)
4. Hitch
A romantic comedy about an accountant – yes, really. Sometimes an accountant just needs a bit (a lot) of help to attract the opposite sex, and Will Smith is on hand to provide dating advice in this funny and heart-warming film. (This film also depicts the most accurate portrayal of an accountant dancing that we’ve seen since Ryan’s wedding…)
5. Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium
If it’s a family film you’re after, look no further than this enchanting tale of a magical toy shop, starring Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman. The accountant in this film is brought in to sort out the shop’s chaotic finances, and is referred to by the other characters as ‘the mutant’. (We’re saying nothing…..)
