Be a successful Secret Santa this year!
Christmas is fast approaching, which means at some point soon someone is going to start organising your workplace Secret Santa! If you’re not much of a shopper, or have been matched with someone who you know nothing about, don’t worry, we’re here to help! Here are our top picks for Secret-Santa-friendly stores where you’re sure to find the perfect gift!
Flying Tiger
Danish company Flying Tiger has been variously described as Denmark’s answer to IKEA, and a ‘posh Poundland’! They have an incredibly random array of products available in store and online, from homeware to technology, to food, to stationery, there is definitely something for everyone! Their products are incredibly good quality considering that most cost just a few pounds. We love this quirky smartphone projector.
Dunelm
You might think of Dunelm as a home furnishings shop, but at Christmas they go all out with a range of pocket-friendly gifts to suit a range of tastes. Whether you’re looking for candles, crafts, food and drink, or homeware, Dunelm has you covered. For Secret Santa we particularly like their range of branded items – if your colleague has an obsession for a particular video game or TV series, then you can find them a gift that is just that little bit more personal Check out their Stranger Things range here.
Hope & Story
A Secret Santa present might not seem like a significant way to support the economy or reverse climate change, but imagine if everyone bought sustainable gifts from British suppliers? Online retailer Hope & Story allows you to do just that, with a cornucopia of beautifully crafted products including stationery, food and drink, Christmas decorations and much more. If you’ve been matched with a dog-lover for Secret Santa, then these unbelievably cute dog portrait keyrings could be just the ticket.
The Range
Mega department store The Range really does have it all. If you struggle to find a Secret Santa present in here then you’re going to struggle anywhere! Their vast array of goods has to be seen to be believed, but be warned, you’ll lose several hours of your life and exit with far more items than you intended to purchase…Visit The Range website here.
Not on the High Street
This website is a posh version of Ebay, with independent makers selling their wares through the site. Although it has quite a high-end reputation, there are plenty of budget-friendly options on the site. A particular advantage of shopping here is that many of the items can be personalised. If you have no idea what your Secret Santa recipient is into, grabbing an ordinary item and shoving their name on it elevates your gift and shows you’ve put at least some effort in. We love these personalised pouches for keeping bits and bobs in.
Home Bargains
While we wouldn’t suggest you shout about buying your colleagues a gift from Home Bargains, it can’t be denied that they do a really good range of cheap stocking fillers which would be ideal for Secret Santa gifts! Their beauty ranges are particularly good, with much more luxe packaging than the price tag would suggest! This eyeshadow palette is a dead-ringer for a much more expensive Urban Decay item, but costs only £2.49!
Marks & Spencer
If your focus is on quality rather than bagging a bargain, then M&S surprisingly allows you to do both with their range of reasonably priced gifts this year. If you’re stuck for ideas they have quite a few items with initials on them, so you can give even a boring gift a personal touch. We like these Alphabet Mugs, which you can also team with a matching coaster.
